About Us

Welcome to Phamily Peony Garden, where we are dedicated to the art of cultivating and growing rare varieties of peonies. Our half acre farm is home to an extensive collection of peonies sourced from China, Japan, Europe, and the United States. We are able to extend our peony season blooms from the end of March to mid June because we carry all three types, woody (tree/shrub), intersectional (Itoh) and herbaceous peonies.

Throughout the Spring, our gardens offer a delightful array of other blooms besides peonies, varying with the seasons. From garden roses, tulips,  and lilacs, to ranunculus and anemones, our garden is a sanctuary for floral diversity. During the summer and fall months, our garden comes alive with a vibrant display of annual flowers such as lisianthus, snapdragons, zinnias, celosia, bachelor buttons, and many more that we incorporate into our arrangements.

Meet our head floral designer...

As a child, Jacqueline found immense joy in playing in her father’s garden after school, often staying until dusk. Her presence in the garden didn’t go unnoticed, and she was often enlisted to help her father pull weeds. During those times, she learned that picking a few flowers to bring inside before her father returned allowed her to study and admire them up close for longer. This marked the beginning of her quest to replicate the beauty of nature through various creative mediums, and Jacqueline meticulously crafted her own little secret garden, from pencil drawings and clay molding to paper sculpting of flowers.
Her passion for flowers and art flourished, leading her to study Fine Arts in college. Along the way, Jacqueline also developed an interest in psychology and Early Childhood Education, though she couldn’t pursue all three majors at once. After graduating, she started teaching early childhood education in public schools and became a passionate advocate for underprivileged children, eventually receiving training and certification as a parent educator with Parents As Teachers. Jacqueline found immense joy in knowing that she was making a difference in the lives of parents and young children.

After the birth of her second child, she made the decision to retire from her career to devote her full time to caring for her children. Amidst the challenges of raising her family in Palo Alto and coping with the loss of her beloved older brother, Jacqueline embarked on a mission to create a garden where her family could find peace and exploration when her third child arrived. What initially started as a 30′ × 10′ garden space with seven peony plants, a few David Austen rose bushes, and some annuals in 2006 has now blossomed into a lush half-acre of flourishing blooms, boasting over several hundred varieties of peonies and more.

In 2012, Jacqueline decided to take her passion for flowers to the next level by studying floristry design under the guidance of the renowned teacher Anne Patrick at Filoli Garden. Throughout the past decade, she has applied her floral expertise by crafting and gifting flower arrangements for various non-profit fundraisers, as well as special occasions including graduations, recitals, and weddings for friends and family.

With the encouragement of her grown children, Jacqueline officially established her flower business, Phamily Peony Garden, in 2023. Her dedication to the craft of floristry and her commitment to environmentally sustainable farming methods makes Phamily Peony Garden a cherished labor of love, bringing both beauty and joy to her and the community.
